My dad spent a couple days on the rear fender for the 48. It is fit up after quite a bit of work. 
Check out how nice the fender matches up with the tail flap and the hinge is level. You have to completely dis assemble the fender, then fit it to the bike- one piece at a time.
Nice and straight, and ready to go to the painter.
it is always easier to fit tail lights and fender tips before paint.
